FAITH & VISITING
Kuroshima is home to “Villages on Kuroshima Island”, a component of the UNESCO World Heritage property “Hidden Christian Sites in the Nagasaki Region”.
From Kuroshima Church, a symbol of the island, to everyday island life, a living culture of prayer continues today.

Public visits resumed in February 2021 following seismic reinforcement and restoration from February 2019. Our house is close to this place of prayer.
Individuals and groups must contact the Hidden Christian Sites in the Nagasaki and Amakusa Region Information Centre before sightseeing visits.
095-823-7650Visitor enquiries: 10:00–17:00
Sightseeing and attending Mass or worship are separate. If you wish to attend a service, ask the information desk how to confirm arrangements with the church. Church events may prevent sightseeing visits.
Respect this place of prayer: keep quiet, do not enter the sanctuary, and do not eat or smoke inside. Follow local photography rules; do not photograph Mass.
ISLAND LIFE
Look out to sea. Walk around the island. Go fishing. Leaving time to do nothing is another way to enjoy Kuroshima.
